Short description Morphology | Morphometrics

Dorsal soft rays (total): 16-18; Anal soft rays: 19 - 22; Vertebrae: 34 - 35. Cynolebias obscurus differs from all other species of the C. porosus group by the possession of the following characters: distal portion of anal-fin rays grey in males (vs. red); white dots concentrated on middle of flank in males (vs. about equally arranged in the whole flank); basihyal width about 50-55% of length (vs. about 65-70%); ventral process of autopalatine absent (vs. present) (Ref. 97357).

Biology     Glossary (e.g. epibenthic)

Occurs in vestigial small pools, measuring about 3 m wide and extending close and parallel to the road for about 1 km. The whole area around the pool is composed of plantation, without any vestige of the original habitat. Sympatric with Hypsolebias macaubensis (Ref. 97357).
