Recorded from Cauvery and Chaliyar Rivers (Ref. 44149) and also from Chilka Lake (Ref. 29108). Captured by spearing in West Bengal and Bihar and also offered to Goddess Kali by the Hindus (Ref. 4833). Lower risk - near threatened status in Western Ghats, India (Ref. 44149).
