Known from Borneo in Kapuas, Seruyan, Kahajan and Barito (Ref. 7424). Recorded only from black and clear waters in the Kapuas Lakes Area, western Borneo, although fishermen reported that this species occurs everywhere in the Lakes Area throughout the year, but more common during the wet season (Ref. 56749). Recorded from Danau Sentarum National Park in the Kapuas basin of Borneo, Kalimantan Barat (Ref. 56749). Type species: MNHN: Danau Sembuluh at Bangkal, Sungai Seruyan basin, Kalimantan Tengah, 1992.1045, 109 mm, collected by T.R. Roberts (Ref. 2091).
