Known from the Magdalena, Cauca, San Jorge, and Atrato river basins. Apparently absent in the Sinú river basin. Ascends river tributaries such as Tibu, the Sardinata, and the Zulia. Type locality: Río Magdalena, Colombia (Ref. 26282). Found in San Cristóbal and La Dorada (Ref. 38803).
