Definition of Term

ikijime
(English) Japanese method of quickly killing fish such that quality is retained; used for sashimi. First the skull is pierced or cored and the brain destroyed, then the spinal cord is destroyed by inserting a thin rod along its length. (See also: sashimi, brain)
