Comments: | Introduced into two reservoirs to control gastropods. Referred to as Mylopharyngodon aetiops (from Welcomme's database). It does not reproduce in the local environment and juveniles are obtained from local hatcheries. No specimens have been recorded in the wild, outside the reservoirs (Ref. 37616).
