This species is distinguished by the following set of characters: 9 dorsal-fin rays 9; 17-19 pectoral-

fin rays; ctenoid scales in interorbital space and cycloid scales on belly; origin of the first dorsal-fin spine is slightly posterior to a vertical drawn through supracleithral spine base; posterior tip of pectoral fin do not reach the anal-fin origin; head length 44.4-46.0% SL (Ref. 91153).
