Distinguished from Conta conta in having anteriorly-directed serrations on the anterior edge of the pectoral spine and a longer (24.6-25.6% SL vs. 21.9-23.4) and a more slender caudal peduncle (2.6-2.8% SL vs. 3.9-4.4) (Ref. 55484).

Description: Anal fin with ii,8 or iii,,8 rays; pelvic fin with i,5 rays (Ref. 55484).
