Distinguished from all congeners by the following unique color patterns: a broad subbasal red stripe on the dorsal fin in males; ventral portion of the head with a black reticulate pattern in females; caudal fin orange on the dorsal and ventral portions, yellow on the middle in females (Ref. 75134).
