Snout broadly obtuse; lower jaw over hanging lower jaw; maxilla reaching to slightly beyond

anterior margin of eye; 3rd suborbital half as deep as uncovered part of cheek below; dorsal commencing midway between nasal opening and caudal base; three outer pectoral rays strongly thickened, margin of pectoral fin notched at 3rd outer ray and next three rays bounded by a thick membrane in males; 4-5 rows of scales between lateral line and base of pelvic fin; 9-10 short lateral bars, not extending beyond dark coloration of back; and predorsal scales 29 (Ref. 93114).
