Short description Morphology | Morphometrics

Diagnosed from its congeners of Barbus and Luciobarbus in Balkan Peninsula and around Aegean Sea by the following characters: 50-57 + 2-3 scales on lateral line; 13-15 scale rows between lateral line and dorsal fin origin; 7-9 scale rows between lateral line and pelvic fin origin; last simple dorsal ray slender, with 11-15 serrae posteriorly along lower half in individuals less than about 9 cm SL, unserrated or only 3-4 small serrae at base of ray in larger ones; lower lip fleshy, thick, with a median lobe; pectoral and pelvic fins triangular; when extended, width between tip of first and last branched pelvic rays greater than length of last ray; and posterior margin of dorsal fin slightly concave (Ref. 59043).

Biology     Glossary (e.g. epibenthic)

Estimates of some properties based on models

Phylogenetic diversity index (Ref. 82805):  PD50 = 0.5000   [Uniqueness, from 0.5 = low to 2.0 = high].
Bayesian length-weight: a=0.00891 (0.00560 - 0.01419), b=3.06 (2.92 - 3.20), in cm Total Length, based on LWR estimates for this species & (Sub)family-body (Ref. 93245).
Trophic Level (Ref. 69278):  3.2   ±0.4 se; Based on size and trophs of closest relatives
Resilience (Ref. 69278):  Medium, minimum population doubling time 1.4 - 4.4 years (Preliminary K or Fecundity.).
Vulnerability (Ref. 59153):  Low to moderate vulnerability (33 of 100) .
