Etymology: Lamprologus: Greek, lampros = light + Greek, lagos = hare (Ref. 45335). More on author: Poll.
Environment: milieu / climate zone / depth range / distribution range
Freshwater; benthopelagic. Tropical; 24°C - 26°C (Ref. 2059); 4°S - 5°S
Africa: endemic to Lake Tanganyika, occurs from Kungwe Bay (Tanzania) north to Bujumbura and then south to Kalemie (Democratic Republic of the Congo (Ref. 42182, 46829).
Size / Weight / Age
Maturity: Lm ?  range ? - ? cm
Max length : 8.0 cm TL male/unsexed; (Ref. 5654)
Stenotopic (Ref. 42182). Found mainly over flat muddy bottoms (Ref. 42182, 46829). At some collection sites a variety of shells were found over the floor in low density (Ref. 42182, 52921). Presence is given away by numerous holes in the bottom (Ref. 42182, 46829). These have a diameter of about 1 cm and are about 12 cm deep; diet consists of zooplankton and other small invertebrates encountered while digging (Ref. 46829).
