Smaller fins, particularly the caudal fin; sexually mature at a remarkably small size, smaller than any other species of Poropuntius, with the likely exception of the very distinctive Poropuntius hathe; large specimens (5.85-8.28 cm) have a more or less well developed nuchal hump, a feature not observed in any other mainland Poropuntius; small fish (5.04-6.0 cm) have no or almost no hump (Ref. 35912).
