Remarks 'Corégone', from Latin name 'Coregonus', i.e., angle-eye, coined by Artedi from the Greek words meaning pupil of the eye and angle (Ref. 1998); 'Cisco', short for Canadian French term 'ciscoette' for any of the whitefish genus of the coregonid family which includes important food fishes of the Great Lakes region (p. 243 in Ref. 11978).
