Remarks 'sucker', 'sucker', i.e., an organ in various animals for adhering or holding, a mouth adapted for sucking (Ref. 27888), from 'suck' of Indo-European base '*seug-, *seuk-', i.e., an imitation of the sound of sucking from the mother's breast (p. 509, Ref. 19979); 'white', from Indo-European '*kwitnos' or '*kwidnos', formed from same base as Sanskrit 'sveta', i.e., white and Russian 'svet', i.e., light (p. 573, Ref. 11979).
