Remarks Inhabits rivers, canals, ponds, beels and inundated fields (Ref. 1479). Found usually in streams with a moderate current (Ref. 58912). Feeds on worms, small crustaceans and insects (Ref. 7020). Aquatic and terrestrial insects formed a large part of its diet, and also substantial amount of filamentous algae and diatoms (Ref. 58912).
