Remarks Reported to reach a length of 153 TL (approximately 30,000 g) in the freshwater Shakujii Hatchery (Ref. 9978). Lives essentially in freshwater although some fish frequently occur in estuaries. Males are sexually mature between 9-15 years; females between 16-20 years (Ref. 11941).
