Family:  Rhombosoleidae (South Pacific flounders)
Max. size:  22 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; marine
Distribution:  Eastern Indian Ocean: southern Australia, from southern Western Australia to South Australia and Tasmania.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal soft rays (total): 74-75; Anal soft rays: 50-51. Body moderately deep (40-43% SL). Snout extended into a hook-like process projecting downwards in front of small, oblique mouth. Scales very small, rather firmly attached; ctenoid or cycloid on ocular side, mostly ctenoid on blind side. Pelvic fin rays on right side 12-14, left 3-4. Caudal fin rays 14 (Ref. 33839).
Biology:  Found in coastal waters (Ref. 9563).
