Max. size:  80 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 7 - 293 m
Distribution:  Eastern Central Pacific: Hawaii, Midway, possibly Australia (including Lord Howe I.) and the Seychelles.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Thrives in shallow coastal clean sand habitats near reefs (Ref. 48635).
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 14 November 2019 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
