Family:  Stomiidae (Barbeled dragonfishes), subfamily: Astronesthinae
Max. size:  14 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  bathypelagic; marine; depth range 0 - 2091 m
Distribution:  Indo-West Pacific: Red Sea and East Africa to Indonesia.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 10-13; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 17-21. Body with silvery sides; black patch on ventral caudal peduncle (Ref. 3982).
Biology:  Taken in midwater trawls, larger individuals in bottom trawls.
