Family:  Cichlidae (Cichlids), subfamily: Pseudocrenilabrinae
Max. size:  8.4 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater; pH range: 7.5 - 8.5; dH range: 10 - 15
Distribution:  Africa: endemic to the southern part of Lake Malawi, between Fort Maguire and Masinje.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Tends to hide in caves. Feeds on small sand-dwelling invertebrates (Ref. 5595). Aquarium keeping: many females for one male; minimum aquarium size 100 cm (Ref. 51539).
