Family:  Pomacentridae (Damselfishes), subfamily: Chrominae
Max. size:  29 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 0 - 15 m, non-migratory
Distribution:  Eastern Pacific: Cabo Blanco, Peru to Tarapaca, Chile; also a questionable record from Juan Fernadez Island off Chile.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 12-12; Dorsal soft rays (total): 13-14; Anal spines: 2-2; Anal soft rays: 12-14
Biology:  Adults inhabit rocky reefs; no information on depth range available (Ref. 7247). Oviparous, distinct pairing during breeding (Ref. 205). Eggs are demersal and adhere to the substrate (Ref. 205). Males guard and aerate the eggs (Ref. 205).
