Family:  Congridae (Conger and garden eels), subfamily: Congrinae
Max. size:  100 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  bathydemersal; marine; depth range 270 - 1700 m
Distribution:  Southeast Pacific: Patagonian region of Chile (Ref. 27363). Southwest Atlantic: off Argentina (Ref. 27363). Southeast Atlantic: Namibia (Ref. 27121) and off Cape Point, South Africa.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 276-300; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 183-213; Vertebrae: 168-172. Cream white (Ref. 5323). Brownish dorsally, lighter below, dorsal and anal fins with dark margin (Ref. 27363).
Biology:  A deep-water species living on the continental slope (Ref. 47377).
