Family:  Gobiidae (Gobies), subfamily: Gobiinae
Max. size:  6.7 cm SL (male/unsexed); 3.64 cm SL (female)
Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 1 - 20 m
Distribution:  Western Indian Ocean: restricted to the Red Sea.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 7-7; Dorsal soft rays (total): 9-10; Anal spines: 1-1; Anal soft rays: 6-7. This species is distinguished from its congeners by the following set of characters: interorbital canal normally with pores B’, C, D, E, F, G and H’; preopercular canal with pores M’, N, and O’; temporal canal with pores K’ and L’; scales in lateral series 21-25 (usually 24); usually four transverse mandibular papillae rows (Row 16) on each side (Ref. 116311).
