Max. size:  65 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; freshwater
Distribution:  Africa: Pool Malebo, the middle Congo River and its northern tributaries, and the Lualaba, in Democratic Republic of the Congo (Ref. 83752). Report from the Luachimo in Angola (Kasai drainage, middle Congo River basin)(Ref. 11970, 120641) unconfirmed in Ref. 83752.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 31-31; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 35-35
Biology:  Occurs only in big rivers (Ref. 3203).
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 16 February 2009 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
