Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  Europe: Cetina drainage in Croatia.
Diagnosis:  Pigmentation (Gambetta's longitudinal zone of pigmentation): zone Z2 with large blotches, distinct from zone Z3 and from spots between Z1 and Z2 until caudal peduncle. Zone Z3 with few spots, narrower than zone Z2 in both sexes. Depth of caudal peduncle 1.0-1.7 times the length.
Biology:  Inhabit lakes and streams with sand or mud bottom (Ref. 59043). Females reach up to about 6 cm SL and 5 cm SL in males (Ref. 59043). Oviparous, with distinct pairing during breeding (Ref. 205). Population is categorized as threatened (Ref. 59043).
