Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater; pH range: 6 - 8; dH range: 5 - 19
Distribution:  Asia: Pakistan, India, Nepal and Bangladesh (Ref. 4832). Reported from Afghanistan (Ref. 41034).
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Inhabits rivers, canals, ponds, beels and inundated fields (Ref. 1479). Feeds on worms, small crustaceans and insects (Ref. 7020).

Threat to humans:  harmless
