Family:  Epigonidae (Deepwater cardinalfishes)
Max. size:  35.8 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  bathydemersal; marine; depth range 150 - 880 m
Distribution:  Indian Ocean: southern part of the ocean, in seamount chains.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 8-8. No opercular spines. Teeth present on tongue. Last spine on the first dorsal fin is joined by a membrane to the penultimate spine (Ref. 31632).
Biology:  A mesobenthic-pelagic species living mainly above the bottom (Ref. 31632). No length type given but assumed to be SL.
