Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater; pH range: 6.80000019073486 - 7.5, non-migratory
Distribution:  North America: Atlantic and Gulf Coastal Plain in the USA from southern Virginia to Ocklockonee River drainage in Georgia and Florida, south in Florida to Lake Okeechobee.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Occurs in swamps and other vegetated standing water bodies, and quiet pools and backwaters of streams.
