Family:  Ophichthidae (Snake eels), subfamily: Ophichthinae
Max. size:  54 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 1 - 30 m
Distribution:  Eastern Pacific: Gulf of California, Costa Rica to Ecuador, including the Galapagos Islands.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Inhabits sandy bottoms, from shallow waters up to a depth of 30 m.
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 22 May 2007 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
