| Diagnosis: | Dorsal soft rays (total): 8-8; Anal soft rays: 15-19; Vertebrae: 37-37. This species is distinguished from its congeners by the following set of characters: interradial membranes of the caudal fin thickened, forming folds between the branched rays of the upper and lower lobes; absence of a humeral blotch; presence of a dark, wide midlateral stripe extending along the sides of body from the posterior region of opercle to the middle caudal-fin rays; lateral line complete; absence of a dark blotch on the basis of the first five branched dorsal-fin rays; absence of two symmetric, large dark blotches basally on caudal fin lobes absence of lateral line interrupted many times; absence of midlateral stripe extending to lower lobe of caudal fin; a smaller eye, 28.3-35.0% HL; anal-fin length short, 21.4-24.9% SL; and the absence of a modified glandular tissue on the anal-fin lobe in mature males (Ref. 128404). | |||
