Max. size:  50 cm TL (male/unsexed); max.weight: 2,000.0 g
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater, potamodromous
Distribution:  Asia: India and Sri Lanka.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Inhabits relatively still waters and occurs in deep pools in larger rivers and in most low-country reservoirs. Feeds mainly on algae. Breeding in rivers is highly influenced by monsoon rains (Ref. 43628).
