Environment:  bathypelagic; marine; depth range 0 - 1700 m
Distribution:  Western Pacific: Suruga Bay, Japan and western Australia.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 37-37. Head and body covered with filmy skin. Eye large and circular. Mouth small oblique. Median fin rays separated from procurrent fin rays. Lateral line with dermal papillae. Body color bluish-gray. Reaches 21 cm SL.
