Max. size:  20 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  bathypelagic; marine; depth range 50 - 2000 m
Distribution:  Atlantic, Indian and Pacific: in tropical and subtropical waters, excluding the southeast Pacific (Ref. 47377).
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 9-10; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 29-31. Body pale with a dark dorsal band (Ref. 4056).
Biology:  Epipelagic to bathypelagic, from 50 (larvae and juveniles (Ref. 47377)) to more than 2,000 m (older youngs and adults (Ref. 47377)) (Ref. 4056).
