Max. size:  10.6 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  bathypelagic; marine; depth range 0 - 1000 m
Distribution:  Eastern Pacific.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 3-3; Dorsal soft rays (total): 15-16; Anal spines: 1-1; Anal soft rays: 8-8; Vertebrae: 28-2. This species is distinguished by the following characters: first gill arch with 17-19 rakers; eye diameter is equal or greater than width of suborbital bone; caudal peduncle depth more than two times in its length; vertebrae 28-29, of them trunk 12-13; no spurs on haemal arch of first caudal vertebra; D III,15-16; A I,8, soft rays in ventral fin 7; ventral fin under or beyond vertical of posterior margin of pectoral fin insertion; anal fin begins under vertical of last ray of dorsal fin or beyond this vertical (Ref. 117111).
Biology:  Gonadal maturity at stage IV for both male and female of 4.1 cm SL male (Ref. 117111).
