Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  Asia: endemic to the Tigris-Euphrates basin.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 3-3; Dorsal soft rays (total): 8-9. Diagnosis: Body deep; mouth subterminal to inferior, lips smooth; striae on scales are parallel; the last simple dorsal ray is ossified and smooth; number of lateral line scales small, 29 to 31; branched rays in anal fin 5 (Ref. 57642).
