Family:  Monacanthidae (Filefishes)
Max. size:  60 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 1 - 100 m
Distribution:  Eastern Indian Ocean: southern Australia, from southern Western Australia to New South Wales and Tasmania.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Adults occur on the continental shelf while juveniles are found in estuaries and shallow bays (Ref. 9563).
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 17 July 2017 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
