Max. size:  20.9 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 13 - 54 m
Distribution:  Eastern Atlantic: Ascension Island. Western Atlantic: Bahamas to the Caribbean. Eastern Pacific: Hawaii. Also known from the western Indian Ocean:
Diagnosis:  Small, slender somewhat compressed, snout long and broad. Uniformly brown with red head and tail tip (Ref. 26938).
Biology:  Benthic in crevices of reef and rock (Ref. 58302).
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 04 February 2009 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
