Max. size:  42 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater; pH range: 5 - 7; dH range: 10
Distribution:  South America: middle and lower Amazon River basin, Nanay River, upper Orinoco River basin, Suriname (?).
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Has powerful dentition that can cause serious bites. Oviparous (Ref. 205).
