Max. size:  11 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  bathydemersal; marine; depth range 295 - 530 m
Distribution:  Western Central Pacific: off New Caledonia and a few neighboring islands.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal soft rays (total): 106-110; Anal soft rays: 86-90; Vertebrae: 59-62. Anterior anal fin-ray below dorsal fin-ray number 23-25, distal and proximal parts of dorsal and anal fins light and middle part black, and median part of body immediately behind head with 6-7 light areas.
Biology:  Common species (Ref. 34024). Feed on gastropods (Ref. 31524). Reproductive strategy possibly similar to other members of this family featuring oviparity, with oval pelagic eggs floating in a gelatinous mass (Ref. 205).
