Max. size:  15.4 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  bathydemersal; marine; depth range 115 - 440 m
Distribution:  Western Atlantic: off Honduras and northern South America; range extension of 3,000 km to off Bahia, Brazil (13°S).
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Common species (Ref. 34024). Reproductive strategy possibly similar to other members of this family featuring oviparity, with oval pelagic eggs floating in a gelatinous mass (Ref. 205).
