This species is distinguished from its congeners by the following characters: higher number of gill rakers on the lower arm of the first gill arch 13-14 (vs. below 12); lateral line scales 20-22; scales in transverse line from dorsal-fin origin to pelvic-fin origin 1/2 3 / 1 / 2 1/2 - 3 ; predorsal scales 8-10; circumferential scales 17-18; circumpeduncular scales 12; vertebrae 35 (Ref. 123474).
