Max. size:  8 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 1 - 10 m, non-migratory
Distribution:  Western Central Pacific: Indonesia, Philippines, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, and Vanuatu.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 13-13; Dorsal soft rays (total): 11-12; Anal spines: 2-2; Anal soft rays: 11-12. Description: Body overall bluish grey, ear spot and upper pectoral fin base spot small black., caudal fin and posterior dorsal and anal fins yellow. Margin of suborbital margin hidden by scales. Body depth 2.4-3.0 in SL (Ref. 90102).
Biology:  Adults inhabit lagoon and inshore coral reefs, usually in areas where silting is prevalent. Aggregates over coral outcrops to feed on zooplankton (Ref. 1602). Oviparous, distinct pairing during breeding (Ref. 205). Eggs are demersal and adhere to the substrate (Ref. 205). Males guard and aerate the eggs (Ref. 205). Diurnal species (Ref. 54980; 113699).
