Family:  Anthiadidae (Fairy basslets or Streamer basses)
Max. size:  15 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  pelagic-oceanic; marine; depth range 92 - 300 m
Distribution:  Indo-Pacific, South Africa to Palau, north to Japan, south to Indonesia.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 10-10; Dorsal soft rays (total): 17-18; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft rays: 7-7
Biology:  Solitary males were often seen in and near the coelacanth caves in 180-270 m. Occurs in 70-300 m (Ref. 58472).
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 11 March 2015 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
