Family:  Adrianichthyidae (Ricefishes), subfamily: Oryziinae
Max. size:  4.5 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater; brackish; pH range: 7.5 - 8.5, non-migratory
Distribution:  Asia: Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand (Ref. 27658). Recorded from the Mekong (Ref. 12693).
Diagnosis:  Dorsal soft rays (total): 6-7; Anal soft rays: 20-25; Vertebrae: 28-29. Principal caudal fin rays 5/6.
Biology:  Found in ditches, canals, ponds. Occurs at the surface in habitats with dense growth of aquatic plants. Feeds on small crustaceans, insects and protozoans (Ref. 12693). Non-annual breeder. Is very difficult to maintain in aquarium (Ref. 27139). Not seen in markets (Ref. 12693).
