Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 3-3; Dorsal soft rays (total): 8-9; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft rays: 5-6. This species is distinguished by the following set of characters: cheeks scaled; branched pectoral fin rays 11-12; preoperculomandibular canal pores 4-5; body depth 13.5%-16.8% of SL; preanus length 68.3%-73.9% of SL (Ref. 137458).
