Family:  Chlorophthalmidae (Greeneyes)
Max. size:  25 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range - 479 m
Distribution:  Western Atlantic: southern New England, USA to the northern coast of Brazil, north of the Amazon. Northwest Atlantic: Canada (Ref. 5951).
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 10-10; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 9-9
Biology:  Feed on fishes and sometimes sepia (Ref. 47377).
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 29 January 2013 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
