| Diagnosis: | Dorsal spines (total): 11-12; Dorsal soft rays (total): 5-7; Anal spines: 13-14; Anal soft rays: 6-8. Dorsal fin with 11-12 spines. Anal fin with 13-14 spines and 6-8 segmented rays. In live male, dorsal, anal and caudal fins with a narrow bluish margin and a black subdistal band bordered proximally by a narrow bluish iridescent band.. Proximal part of dorsal and anal fins from black along body, grading into red distally. Proximal part of caudal fin deep black, surrounded by a bright red patch. Pelvic fin and filament black, except for iridescent blue basal third (sometimes entirely blue) (Ref. 56232). | |||
