Environment:  demersal; marine
Distribution:  Western Central Pacific: Australia.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 7-7; Dorsal soft rays (total): 7-7; Anal spines: 1-1; Anal soft rays: 7-7. This species is distinguished from its congeners by the following set of characters: unpaired fin rays D. VI + I,7; A. I,7; pectoral fin rays 15(2)-16(1); cephalic pore pattern lacking preopercular pores (N’, O’): B’, C, D, E, F, G, H’ (43); head dorsoventrally compressed (height 70-80% of width); and separated first and second dorsal fins (Ref. 137869).
