Family:  Leuciscidae (Minnows), subfamily: Pogonichthyinae
Max. size:  11.2 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; freshwater
Distribution:  North America: upper Tennessee River drainage from South Fork Holston River in Virginia to Little Tennessee River in Georgia; extreme upper Savannah River drainage in North Carolina, South Caroline and Georgia, USA.
Diagnosis:  Phenacobius crassilabrum is distinguished by having the following characters: lips as in sucker-mouth minnow, P. mirabilis; pelvic fins extending to or past anus; 56-68 scales on lateral line; 19-20 scales around caudal peduncle; dark olive above; dark stripe along back wider in front of dorsal fin; light green streak above black stripe along silver side; and 2 yellow spots on caudal fin base (Ref. 86798).
Biology:  Inhabits gravel and rubble runs and riffles of creeks and small to medium rivers (Ref. 5723, 10294, 86798).
